What is the Universe? How is it? Why does it exist? How did it come about? Many of the questions that human beings have asked themselves since their evolution began concern the world around us. In the following pages we will search and study the answers.

The term universe It refers to a closed system that covers everything: space, time, energy, matter ... Its study is responsible for cosmology, a science that integrates others varies, such as physics and astronomy.

Four dimensions of the Universe are known: three spatial and one temporal. Together they form space-time, a mathematical model that combines them into a single continuum where all the physical events of the Cosmos occur.

The observations indicate that the Universe was born, evolves and changes incessantly. However, the physical laws that govern it are considered constant at any place and time, except in the first moments, still difficult to understand. The theory that best explains its operation is, for now, general relativity. He standard model, on the other hand, describes the four forces that maintain it and the particles on which they act.

The Universe has been a mystery until a few years ago, in fact, it still is, although we know many things. From the mythological or religious explanations of the past, to the current scientific and technical means available to astronomers, there is a great qualitative leap that has developed, especially, from the second half of the twentieth century.
